Christmas Card Time!

VarietyPack1-web.jpg

It’s early November & that means it’s time to start thinking about gifts for the holiday season! Along with gifts comes cards! I reprinted some of my Christmas cards from last year, available at my online store. All the illustrations are based off of Christmas songs! The most popular one from last year was We Three Kings:

I just updated all the stocks, but even if they run out, I can always reprint more. Just email me at mindy at mindyindy dot com if you have any questions or special requests.

Also consider getting a custom sketch or custom comic for the holiday season too! Things tend to speed up at the year draws to a close, so it’s good to start thinking of a really special gift now :)

Business Tip

Try to do holiday marketing soon after Halloween XD . Before Halloween is just annoying, but you don’t want to wait too late (like, when YOU actually do your personal shopping) to promote special items for the season.

Holiday Swing

itsalwayssunny-family-portrait-sketch.png

Yes, YOU TOO could have a lovely family portrait just like this one, as the cast of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia! There are some ads where the cast is all smiling bug-eyed like this :) You’re giving the gift of laughter! Other ideas include the cast of Seinfeld, Modern Family, The Simpsons, and more. There’s still a week to get your sketch order in if you’d like one.

Side note, I’ll no longer be participating in the Brooklyn Museum WinterFest, due to unforseen circumstances.

Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!

Online Store is Open!

Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 1.49.15 PM.png

Very excited to open my new online store! I have Christmas greeting cards for sale at www.mindyindy.com/greeting-cards ! All 5 of the card designs are based off of last year’s Christmas carol doodletunes (illustrations of songs). Left to right: Carol of the Bells, We Three Kings, Silent Night, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Suzy Snowflake! You can order one card for $5 or a pack of 5 for $20 = buy 4 get one free (+$1 shipping for one and $2 shipping for a pack). The store takes PayPal, which can also take credit cards if you don’t have a PayPal account. Now is the time to start getting cards because Christmas will be here before you know it! The only one that says “Happy Holidays” is Suzy Snowflake - the rest say Christmas.

If you’ve been following me long enough you know how crazy my TO DO lists are, and creating an online store has been on my to do list for YEARS. For awhile I was deciding if I should go with Etsy or upgrade my own Squarespace site for commerce. Etsy is actually a lot harder than it looks. Granted, you have more discoverability on that platform, but I felt that just for starting out, it’s hard to compete with all the other cards out there. For example, people have their cards set up against a fireplace with holly branches and freakin’ hot cocoa with perfect lighting etc. Screw that, I just want to get the thing done! I found out that I didn’t need to upgrade my Squarespace site and can still have basic commerce functionality! I only have a few products after all, that are currently the same size & weight, so I don’t need a complex store. It was fun to build the store and put the descriptions in and learn new stuff about shipping (ALWAYS learning new things as a freelancer!).

Anyway, over time I’ll add more items to the store like mini comics. If you’d like some mini comics for stocking stuffers in the meantime, email me at mindy at mindyindy dot com.

OH and my times at the WinterFest at the Brooklyn Museum are now switched to Saturdays!

Happy Holidays!

POP2 (squared) Holiday Pop-Up Market THIS FRI & SAT!

I'm in another holiday market this Friday Dec 12 and Saturday Dec 13th!  POP Squared is in downtown Brooklyn and is partially run by my friends at the Gowanus Nite Market!  They always put on great shows!  Diverse vendors, food, DJs, alcohol, and a cool artsy atmosphere!

"After the success of our Grove Alley events, the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership in partnership with the Gowanus Night Market (GNM) and Jamestown Properties introduces Pop² Brooklyn, a unique indoor holiday market experience.

In keeping with the artsy-meets-urban-style of our Grove Alley Makers Nite and Paint Nite and GNM’s past night market events, Pop² Brooklyn’s 2-day event will take place at 200 Livingston Street, a 5500-square-foot vacant commercial space in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn. The market will offer a mix of both DIY gift making stations for makers at heart wanting to personalize their shopping experience as well as other Brooklyn based vendors selling one of kind items.

As always, there will be an eclectic venue, Brooklyn Brewery beer, food trucks, our resident DJ Chela and special guest DJs on the 1s and 2s.

See you there!"

You can RSVP on Eventbrite - the market is FREE but it helps keep track of #s:  http://www.eventbrite.com/e/pop2-brooklyn-tickets-13800412405?aff=es2&rank=1

The holidays are fast approaching - Hanukkah starts next Tuesday and Christmas is only 2 weeks away!  Better run to POP Squared to get all the goodies for the people on your list!

As always, I'll be sketching on the spot and selling mini comics.  I'll be near this cool bear mural!  It's at 200 Livingston St, near trains A,C,F,G,N,R,2,3 at Jay St.-Metrotech, Hoyt-Schermerhorn.  Friday hours are 4p-10p (come right after work!) and Saturday goes from NOON to 8p.

For the first time in like 8 years, I have a little Christmas tree in my apartment.  It's actually a decent size - put it up yesterday.  Be careful with those ornaments though!
