Philly Zine Fest This Sunday!

phillyzinefest.jpg

I’m exhibiting in Philly Zine Fest again! I did it once a few years ago and am excited to return! It’s always great to do shows that just focus on zines. They’re affordable to exhibit in without relying on sketch art. I like doing sketch art, but creating stories is why I love being a cartoonist.

One day I’ll have to spend more time in Philly though - it’s just been quick day trips both times. The life of a busy entrepreneur!

If you’re in the Philly area, please check it out! Here’s the site: http://phillyzinefest.com/

Pete's Mini Zine Fest This Saturday!!

Tomorrow I'm exhibiting in Pete's Mini Zine Fest!  A celebration of little works of joy:  zines!  Though zines (short for magazines, of the indie kind) traditionally consist of written works, cartoonists are gradually taking over zine fests :)

Saturday 7/30 from 2-7pm at Pete's Candy Store (the "store" is actually a bar... there is no candy, but it used to be a candy store) 709 Lorimer Sr, Brooklyn NY 11211.  Take the L to Lorimer or G to Metropolitan Ave.  Here's the facebook invite.  See you there!

Last week I got to experience and exhibit at Comic-Con International in San Diego!! (more on that in the next blog) and I realized I need to prepare for Boston Comic Con in 2 weeks.  Do I even still live in New York?

'Zine Fest Rocked!

Had an awesome time at the Brooklyn Zine Fest this weekend!  (fyi "zines" are like little self-published magazines).  It was a super artsy vibe and everyone was so friendly!  So much creativity out there!  These tiny zines have lots of personal stories in them, some are just pictures of Brooklyn, some are compilations of many writers and artists.  There was one lady making balloon animals, hence the balloon dog :)  I also saw lots of books with graffiti art and poetry.  I keep trying to understand poetry but it's not really my thing.  I kind of went overboard on getting cool stuff, but I rarely do that anymore because I hardly have time to look around conventions when I'm exhibiting at them.  Also, these purchases are tax deductible for me as a cartoonist in this field!  It's easier to keep track and get receipts by paying with a credit card, which luckily most vendors had the Square Reader.  Hopefully I'll get into this fest next year!

IT'S PLOTTING!!!
